The extension runs entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Specifically:
The extension requires the activeTab and host_permissions permissions solely to analyze tracker elements on the page you're currently viewing. This data never leaves your device.
Tracker blocking: Blocking is performed by Chrome's declarativeNetRequest engine using a static rule list shipped inside the extension. Chrome applies these rules itself — the extension never observes the individual requests being blocked, and no request data is recorded or transmitted.
Link cleaning: When enabled, known tracking parameters (such as utm_*, fbclid and gclid) are stripped from URLs before the page loads. This rewriting happens locally inside your browser. The URLs you visit are never sent anywhere.
Lookalike site warnings: The extension checks whether the address in your address bar appears to impersonate a well-known brand, using pattern rules bundled with the extension. This check runs entirely offline. We deliberately do not use a remote reputation or safe-browsing API, because doing so would require sending every address you visit to a third party — exactly the behaviour Privadeer exists to prevent.
Per-site pause and settings: Your preferences (protection on/off, link cleaning on/off, the list of sites you have paused, and a running count of blocked trackers) are stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your device and are never synced or transmitted.
Breach lookup: The extension provides a plain link to HaveIBeenPwned, an independent breach-notification service. Nothing is submitted on your behalf and no email address is stored by the extension. Any information you enter is entered on HaveIBeenPwned's own website, under their privacy policy.

Your data is stored on servers within the European Union, encrypted at rest and in transit. We use Cloudflare for infrastructure, which provides enterprise-grade security.

privadeer.com uses only strictly necessary cookies for authentication if you have an account. We use zero tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party trackers. We practice what we preach.
We retain your data only as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently erase all your data within 30 days. Deletion request records are kept for 12 months for legal compliance purposes.
Privadeer is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated via email or a notice on our website. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
